As the unofficial start of summer, the Memorial Day holiday weekend is a busy time for Californians. Each year, the highways fill with families in vehicles, on their way to start their summer vacations. To help keep drivers and passengers safe, Elk Grove Police Department is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket. With the California weather warming up Elk Grove Police Department and the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) are highlighting how bicycling is a great way to stay in shape, save money on gas, reduce pollution and when visiting recreational areas, a great way to see the sights. These benefits are nothing new to cyclists and community leaders. Many cities have created bike-friendly routes now complete with bike paths, special bicycle parking areas and special amenities. Elk Grove, CA— In order to reduce motorcycle crashes and save lives, Elk Grove Police Department and the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) are teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) this May for the annual Motorcycle Safety Awareness campaign to help save lives on our roadways. The awareness campaign aims to educate vehicle drivers and motorcyclists on how each motorist can be more aware of the other, creating safer roads and saving lives in the process.  Read More

ELK GROVE, CA – On Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department received 9-1-1 calls from guests at the Extended Stay America (2201 Longport Court). The callers told the 9-1-1 operator they heard some yelling coming from a room, heard a gunshot, and saw a male subject in the hallway area with blood around his torso. The callers told the 9-1-1 operator there had been some type of party or gathering in the room before hearing the gunshot.  Read More

EGPD Increases Patrols for Holiday Season

Child Passenger Safety Week

Every day in America, too many children ride in car seats that have been installed incorrectly, or are riding in the wrong car seats for their ages and sizes. Even worse, many other children ride while completely unbuckled. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), two out of three car seats are improperly installed or misused. To help combat this issue, Elk Grove PD and NHTSA are sponsoring Child Passenger Safety Week from September 17-23, 2017, a campaign dedicated to helping parents, grandparents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible - every trip, every time.  Read More

Walgreens Pharmacy Robbery

On September 6, 2017, at 12:10 p.m., the suspects (pictured below) entered Walgreens and made their way to the pharmacy area located at the rear of the store. Both suspects jumped over the counter and confronted the employees who were working in the pharmacy. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of medication from the pharmacy then fled the store on foot. The suspects were last seen running towards a nearby apartment complex. Responding officers were on scene within two minutes of the call and established a perimeter. After an extensive search, the suspects were not located.  Read More
