FATAL COLLISION ON WHITELOCK PARKWAY

 

 

ELK GROVE, CA – On October 17, at 3:19 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a vehicle versus a bicyclist collision on Whitelock Parkway, east of Bruceville Road.  

 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2012 Chrysler 200 had been involved in a collision with a 14-year-old bicyclist. Medical personnel arrived and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital where the bicyclist later succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of the collision. Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. 

 

Based on information obtained during the preliminary investigation, traffic investigators have determined that the driver of the Chrysler 200 was traveling eastbound on Whitelock Parkway, east of Bruceville Road when the bicyclist crossed Whitelock Parkway in a northbound direction and was struck by the vehicle. The driver was contacted at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor. The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian crossing signal had not been activated. The collision investigation is active and ongoing.
