ELK GROVE, CA – Elk Grove Police Chief Timothy Albright announced today the selection of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Captain Bobby Davis as the next Assistant Chief of Police for the Elk Grove Police Department.

“I am very excited to work with Assistant Chief Davis to lead this great organization to new heights” said Chief Albright. “Following a nationwide search and extensive interview and assessment process, Assistant Chief Davis was the over-whelming and obvious choice for this important role within our organization and for our community. Assistant Chief Davis is a lifelong resident of the Sacramento area and has established himself as a leader in the law enforcement community and in the communities he has served. He brings a wealth of experience from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office where he served for twenty-four years.”

During Assistant Chief Davis’ career as a Captain at the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, he has overseen the Professional Standards Division, a Patrol Division that serves over 300,000 residents, the Investigations Division with oversight of nine investigative bureaus including the investigation and arrest of the East Area Rapist, and the Court Security Division. Assistant Chief Davis has also served as the Public Information Officer for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office as well as serving as the Assistant Chief of Police for the contract City of Rancho Cordova.

Assistant Chief Davis is involved with several important community-based programs including the Special Olympics, Links to Law Enforcement, Reduction of African American Child Death Review Board (RAACD), My Brother’s Keeper Initiative, and serves as a California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) Board Member.

Assistant Chief Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is currently completing his master’s degree.  Assistant Chief Davis has completed the FBI-LEEDA Executive and Command Leadership Courses, the National Criminal Justice Leadership Institute Academy, and the City of Rancho Cordova’s Leadership Program.

“I am blessed, honored and humbled to have the opportunity to assist Chief Albright in leading an organization that has historically proven that improving the quality of life for its residents is paramount. I am joining an organization and management team that believes in transparency, being diverse in thought, and practices a collaborative, compassionate style of leadership.  I have spent my entire life in the Sacramento region and I’m raising three young men here.  I have strong family ties to Elk Grove, and I will remain here long into the future.  I am privileged to assist Chief Albright in leading a professional group of women and men who are focused on healthy community partnerships, inclusive and objective interactions, and promoting public safety in a progressively diverse community and workforce.”

Assistant Chief Davis will be sworn in by Chief Albright on March 2, 2020, at 10 am at The Center at District 56. The community is welcome to attend this ceremony.
