Connecting Kids with Cops, Heroes and Helpers

Connecting Kids with Cops, Heroes and Helpers        Shop with a Cop

Better community relations happen when kids connect with law enforcement, firefighters and other community heroes and helpers. On Saturday, December 2, from 6 – 8 a.m., the Rotary Club of Laguna Sunrise and other service clubs, businesses and residents recognize the need to promote greater understanding between our youth and first responders.

Cosumnes Community Services District Firefighters, Elk Grove Police, and law enforcement from other agencies will pair up with local foster youth for a season shopping experience at Walmart (10075 Bruceville Road). Each child will be provided $150 to shop for gifts to give their family and friends.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to spread holiday joy and to listen to holiday wish lists!

“Improving our community starts with building a better understanding and creating relationships between our youth and our first responders,” said Laguna Sunrise Rotarian Kevin Spease. “This event is just one of the ways that our community makes it happen.”

“I look forward to participating along with other members of the Elk Grove Police Department as we assist these young community members in fulfilling their holiday shopping dreams,” said Elk Grove Police Chief Bryan Noblett.

“The holiday season is about being thankful and being joyful; this is epitomized with the smiles on these children’s faces,” said Cosumnes Fire Chief Mike McLaughlin. “This is a great event for connecting with our community.”
