ELK GROVE, CA – On Sunday, December 16, 2018 at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to Elk Grove Boulevard, just east of Interstate 5 regarding a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the eastbound roadway. Callers indicated that one of the subjects, an adult female, was lying on the roadway next to the driver’s door of the parked vehicle. The second subject, an adult male, was slumped over in the front passenger’s seat of the vehicle.

EGPD officers and medical personnel arrived. The female adult was in need of immediate medical attention, and was transported to a local area hospital. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. Both subjects had suffered gunshot wounds. EGPD was later notified that adult female had passed away as a result of her injuries.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The names of the deceased have not been released and identification will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

At this time, based on statements from witnesses, and physical evidence, detectives are treating this investigation as an apparent murder-suicide. Detectives believed this was an isolated incident and are not searching for any suspects.
