ARREST MADE IN HOMICIDE

 

 

ELK GROVE, CA -On Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 8:23 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 8900 block of Sierra Street regarding a medical aid call at a residence.

 

Officers arrived at the above location and contacted the suspect, 36-year-old Ricky Sims, who was inside of the residence. Sims would not reveal himself to officers and refused to follow commands. A less than lethal force option was used, and Sims was detained. Officers searched the residence and discovered a 36-year-old female adult suffering from a stab wound to the neck. Officers performed lifesaving measures, however, the victim succumbed to her injuries. The identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. Sims was arrested and transported to a local area hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

 

According to detectives, Sims and the victim are known to each other and what led up to the incident is under investigation. The weapon used in the homicide was recovered at the scene.

 

Sims will be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for homicide once he is cleared from the hospital.
