Elk Grove Police Department investigators have arrested a 21-year-old Sacramento man, for a fentanyl death that occurred back in 2021.
Officers responded to Jones Family Park (8841 Shasta Lily Drive) regarding a report of an individual in the restroom who appeared to be overdosing and was not breathing on April 22, 2021, around 8:39 pm. Despite life-saving efforts, the 17-year-old victim tragically passed away.
An autopsy conducted by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was fentanyl intoxication.
Following a lengthy and thorough investigation, detectives identified Keon Taylor, 21, as the individual who had sold the victim pills on multiple occasions, including the day of the overdose.
On January 7, 2025, Elk Grove Police Department investigators, working closely with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office Fentanyl Overdose Resolution Team (FORT), obtained an emergency arrest warrant for Taylor. The following day, January 8th, Elk Grove Police Department detectives arrested Taylor in Sacramento.
Taylor was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of Homicide (Penal Code 187 (a)) and Transportation of Controlled Substance (Health and Safety Code 11352 (a)).
