POLICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE
ELK GROVE, CA -On Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 10:25 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 9200 block of Starfish Way for reports of shots heard in the area. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male, lying in the roadway, suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers and fire personnel began life saving measures, however, the victim succumbed to their injures.The name of the victim will not be released, and identification will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned there was a verbal argument between the victim and the suspect that escalated when the suspect drew a firearm and fired at the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
